Practical AI risk management
Survival Guide to the AI Apocalypse: A Practical Guide to AI Risk Management
Build the judgement to use AI well in your working day. This course helps professionals and team leaders recognise where AI helps, where it can fail and which decisions need a person.
With Adrian Dunkley, Caribbean AI scientist and founder of StarApple AI, with 15+ years in AI.
Ask about the coursePreparation you can put to work
“AI Apocalypse” describes disruption to work, skills and trust. The course focuses on practical risk management and better decisions in the systems you use today.
For professionals, managers, business owners and teams using or considering AI. Bring a workflow you want to improve. Use public or synthetic examples during initial exercises; keep live customer and employee records out of unapproved tools.
What the course covers
Know the task and the tool
Define the job, identify who could be harmed, and check the vendor, model, data sources and contractual controls before use.
Protect private information
Classify inputs, practise with synthetic examples and understand retention, training use, access and deletion.
Check the answer
Trace important claims to their source, reproduce calculations and test local assumptions and uneven performance.
Keep decisions accountable
Set human approval points, limit tool permissions and plan a working manual fallback.
Monitor and respond
Record failures and near misses, identify who can stop a workflow, and agree how to investigate and retest it.
From an experiment to a controlled workflow
Work through an AI-use inventory, a vendor and data checklist, an output verification record, approval boundaries and an incident response outline. Caribbean examples connect the controls to customer service, professional work and small-business operations.
The NIST AI Risk Management Framework and OWASP guidance on excessive agency provide useful reference points. Applying a checklist does not by itself establish legal compliance or make an AI system risk-free.
