AI Subscription Value Calculator

Compare your AI subscription fee with the time you actually save, including checking and rework.

Start
01

Your subscription

Assess one subscription at a time, using the last 30 days.

Use the amount you pay, including tax. For annual billing, divide your annual total by 12. Include only this subscription. Currency selection labels your amounts; it does not convert them.

02

What do you actually use?

Count useful work, even if you used a feature just once. Answer each row.

Only capabilities that are available on your plan and relevant to your work count towards your score. Features, limits and permissions vary by plan, region and workspace. Check the official guides ↓

03

Put a value on your time

A few valuable workflows can justify the whole fee.

Subtract prompting, setup, checking and rework from the time saved. Enter a negative number if AI cost you extra time. Use measured time where you can.

Use the same currency as your fee. This estimates the opportunity value of time, which may not turn into cash or extra income. Other costs and non-time benefits are excluded.

Explore an additional opportunity Optional

Your own scenario for an unused, relevant workflow. Allow for review and setup. This is an assumption to test, not a forecast from your feature score or the study.

THE METHOD

Transparent inputs.
Useful limits.

Inspired by CAIA's owner-confirmed preliminary study of 250 Caribbean AI users. The study motivates the questions; it does not predict your savings or benchmark you against a representative population. This calculator uses its own transparent nine-group method, so its score is not directly comparable with the study’s self-rated utilisation or effective feature usage figures.

How are the results calculated?

Feature adoption = capabilities used for useful work ÷ relevant, available capabilities × 100. Each of the nine capability groups has equal weight. “Not relevant”, “Not available”, “Not sure” and unanswered rows are excluded. A partial score is labelled provisional. No denominator means no score.

Monthly time value = net hours saved × your hourly value. The next figure subtracts your monthly fee. Break-even minutes = monthly fee ÷ hourly value × 60, when hourly value is greater than zero. Zero fee and negative net hours are supported.

Additional monthly time value = your assumed additional net hours × your hourly value. It is separate from current value. These estimates do not measure actual cash savings, quality improvements, risk or the market value of a subscription.

Check your plan's official capabilities

These examples explain the capability groups. Selecting a service does not automatically assert access. Confirm availability in your account and your organisation's policy.

Guides checked 5 October 2026. Product availability changes. The capability checklist and calculations are provider-neutral.

How should I use the score?

A high percentage is not a goal by itself. A 25% score can accompany excellent value if those workflows matter. A 100% score can still accompany poor value if checking and rework consume the time saved.

Measure one task before and after for seven days. Check output quality, record review time, and repeat this check with your own evidence. Avoid counting the same time saving twice.
